As a Friend of Shakamak, your membership supports our mission to develop projects and events to help preserve and promote Shakamak State Park and includes:

Our meetings generally occur on the first Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Shakamak State Park office unless otherwise noted. See the schedule on our Events page. Past meeting minutes are archived on our Publications page.

Volunteer

We are currently seeking volunteers to serve in the various roles listed below. Many positions are event specific and may be filled dependent upon volunteer interest. Those positions with an asterisk (*) shall be held for a calendar year.  

OUTREACH
Event Coordinator
Members: Event specific
Estimated Time Commitment: 20+ hours/year
Description: Works with Park management and the Volunteer Coordinator to coordinate logistics of FOS events.

Membership Coordinator
Member: Brandi Courville
Estimated Time Commitment: 10 hours/year
Description: Maintains membership logs, renewals, and member appreciation activities. Works with Events Coordinator to plan annual Member Appreciation Party.

Volunteer Coordinator
Members: Diane Pine
Estimated Time Commitment: 25+ hours/year
Description: Works with Park management and Events Coordinator to recruit volunteers for FOS events.

COMMUNICATIONS
Media Coordinator
Members: Event specific
Estimated Time Commitment: 15 hours/year
Description: Works with Park management to interface with local public broadcast and print media to promote FOS events, membership, education, and outreach.

Social Media Coordinator
Member: Shana Cash
Estimated Time Commitment: Half an hour/week
Description: Works with Publications Editor, Media Coordinator, FOS leadership, and Park management to promote FOS events, membership, education, and outreach.

Publications Editor
Member: Holly Kowalski
Estimated Time Commitment: 10 hours/year
Description: Works with Media Coordinator, Social Media Coordinator, FOS leadership, and Park management to create and approve all outbound communications.

Website Administrator
Member: Derrick Cash
Estimated Time Commitment: 12 hours/year
Description: Works with domain and hosting provider to assure technical logistics and renewal management. Works with Media Coordinator, Social Media Coordinator, and FOS leadership to assure appropriate content updates.

FUNDRAISING
Grants Manager
Members: Shana Cash
Estimated Time Commitment: 10+ hours/year
Description: Works with Parks management, Donor Relations Manager, and FOS leadership to seek and apply for appropriate grants and other funding opportunities. Responsible for maintaining relevant documentation and achievement of funding directives.

Donor Relations Manager
Member: Event specific 
Estimated Time Commitment: 10+ hours/year
Description: Works with Park management, Grants Manager, and FOS leadership to contact relevant potential donors to support FOS events. Maintains solicitation log.
