Kicking Bear
August 19, 2017. Kicking Bear is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping kids realize the safety of the outdoors and learn about archery. Join the dedicated Kicking Bear Indiana Chapter as they host their annual free archery clinic for youth!
First Day Hike
January 1, 2017. Each year on January 1st a spirited group of hikers gather to join in on Shakamak State Park's First Day Hike. In 2017, approximately 200 people came out to stretch their legs on a beautiful winter day. That's the third best turnout in the state!

The Friends of Shakamak hosted a movie and snacks following the hike, complete with hot chocolate and coffee to warm up from that fresh, winter air.

Easter Egg Hunt
April 15, 2017. Ever wondered what it's like to hunt for 3,000 eggs? The annual Shakamak State Park Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 10:00 a.m. sharp. Please park in the pool parking lot and gather behind the marked boundary for your chance to snag some eggs. There will be a separate area for children 2 and under. Also, be on the lookout for two golden eggs hidden somewhere in the park at large to win a family prize!
Christmas in July
July 21-22, 2017. In full Christmas spirit, Shakamak State Park hosts a fun filled weekend including a new Reindeer Dash Triathlon, movie in the campground, extended pool hours, cookie decorating, campsite decoration contest, a live band and fireworks! Thanks to funding from the Indiana Arts Commission, we will debut our Music in the Park concert series featuring the talent of local musicians set near Lake Shakamak at dusk. See Agenda

Jaws on Lake Kickapoo
Fall Festival
October 20-21, 2017. Shakamak State Park hosts a spooktacular weekend of family fun including a haunted house, haunted campgrounds, trick-or-treating, a costume parade, campsite decorating contest, and much more! Thanks to funding from the Indiana Arts Commission, we will host the second concert in our Music in the Park series featuring local musical talent.
Jaws on the Water
August 5, 2017. Can you survive?! Come test your will at Shakamak State Park by watching Jaws on a large outdoor screen while floating in Lake Kickapoo.

Annual Events

Hounds Hike
May 6, 2017. Come out and join our Annual Hound Hike! Bring your hound, and enjoy a walk in the park! There will be a raffle to help place doggy waste cleanup stations around the property. Meet at the Pool Shelter. We look forward to seeing everyone and their furry friends!
Long Fish Dash
New Date TBD. Runners unite for our annual Long Fish Dash in collaboration with the ROOTS Running Club! There will be a Junior Run and timed 7K Adult Race. Certificates of completion for health care provider insurance requirements can be provided upon request. Click here to register!
